Bret Bero - Interim CEO

bret-beroBret Bero of American Capital, Ltd. was appointed Interim CEO of Halt Medical in November 2015.  Mr. Bero joined American Capital, Ltd. as a Vice President in May 2007, was promoted to Principal in 2009 and to Managing Director in 2015. Mr. Bero has served as the Interim CEO of several American Capital portfolio companies, and currently serves on the boards of Halt Medical, WIS International, The Meadows of Wickenburg, Core Business Credit, Imaging Business Machines LLC (ibml), Lawrence Merchandising Systems (LLSC), and Fosbel Holdings, Inc.

Prior to joining American Capital, Mr. Bero was the President, North America for Drake Beam Morin (DBM), a leading global provider of career transition services. Prior to DBM, Mr. Bero and a partner founded ECHO Industries, Inc. to acquire the assets of a metal forming manufacturing company in a leverage buy-out. Mr. Bero has over 17 years of increasing leadership roles in world class consulting firms. As a Partner at Accenture, he developed the Organization Strategy service offering. Mr. Bero was a Vice President and led multi-discipline project teams in addressing Business Process Reengineering, business strategy, and organization change issues for clients in the Diversified Industries/Diversified Services industry group of Gemini Consulting. While he was with Price Waterhouse, Mr. Bero addressed client cost management and financial effectiveness issues. His clients have included firms such as Marriott, Highmark BlueCross/BlueShield of Western PA, Ferguson Enterprises, Bausch & Lomb, National Services Industries, Lanier, Oldsmobile, Tupperware, Harry & David, KeyCorp, New York Life, and International Thomson. Mr. Bero began his professional career as a manufacturing cost analyst with Digital Equipment Corporation.

Mr. Bero holds an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and an AB in Economics and Political Science from Middlebury College.

 

Donald I. Galen, M.D., FACOG, - Medical Director

Donald_I_Galen_@2xDr. Galen obtained his undergraduate degree at University of California, Los Angeles in molecular genetics and microbiology and attended USC School of Medicine. His four-year residency training in obstetrics & gynecology was at UC Medical Center, San Francisco. Dr. Galen is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology and by the Accreditation Council for Gynecologic Endoscopy. He is also a member of the Society of Reproductive Surgeons and numerous other professional organizations. Dr. Galen is renowned for his expertise in gynecologic microsurgery, minimally invasive endoscopic surgery and Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART). He is active in didactic and hands-on surgical teaching.

 

Robert C. Skidmore - Senior Vice President of Operations & Manufacturing

Robert_C_Skidmore_@2xMr. Skidmore offers more than 27 years in manufacturing and operations experience in Laser, Graphics and Medical Device Manufacturing companies. His medical manufacturing experience (Sunrise Tech, Indigo Medical, Sanarus Medical) has been related to surgical, urology, dental and gynecology. He was instrumental in establishing DFT/JIT technologies into a majority of the companies, substantially reducing the overall cost of devices and capital equipment. Mr. Skidmore is a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Kenpo Martial Arts, and he owns and operates a martial arts school in his hometown.

 

Rick K. Spero - Vice President of Research & Development

Rick_K_Spero_@2xMr. Spero brings 36 years of experience in product development and manufacturing engineering, with the past 19 years in the healthcare industry. His experience includes product design and project management for high-volume disposables (Nellcor pulse oximeter sensors), lower-volume disposables (Sanarus Cassi breast biopsy device) and capital equipment (Humphrey Instruments Ophthalmic Field Analyzer and Retinal Analyzer). Mr. Spero has participated in multiple medical start-up companies. He has been involved in numerous FDA submissions and is named as inventor or co-inventor on multiple patents.

 

Jayne A. Little - Vice President of Global Health Economics & Reimbursement

Jayne_A_Little_@2xMs. Little joined Halt Medical with more than 20 years of experience in the medical device industry with the majority being specific to reimbursement. She has held senior management positions in several venture-backed start-ups within a variety of specialties. Most notably, while Vice President of Reimbursement at Optonol Inc. (acquired by Alcon, Inc.), she was responsible for coverage and payment of a Level III CPT code. During that time, Ms. Little achieved coverage policies from a wide variety of commercial payors as well as reversing insufficient facility payments from Medicare. Overall, Ms. Little has been responsible strategically for AMA CPT code implementation, Medicare facility codes and payment, Medicare and commercial payor coverage and policy while overseeing a team of consulting groups and developing reimbursement materials. In addition to Optonol, Ms. Little has held senior management positions at Bio-Tissue Inc. and CryoGen Inc. (acquired by American Medical Systems).

 

Jeremy McFadden - Vice President of Finance

JeremyJeremy has more than 15 years of finance, accounting, and operations experience, primarily in the medical device and Healthcare IT industries. He has a public accounting background having received his CPA while working for Deloitte and has combined this experience with a variety of corporate finance roles at Philips Healthcare. Most recently, he was head of finance for the Philips Healthcare Informatics business located in Foster City, CA.

 

Larry Anderson - Director of National Sales & Strategic Accounts

larry-andersonMr. Anderson has 14 years of experience in the medical device industry of which 13 has been dedicated to women’s health.  After spending 8 years with Ethicon Women’s Health and Urology, he entered the start-up world with Interlace Medical, Inc. where his contributions directly contributed to the acquisition by Hologic, Inc.  Most recently, he served as a Kaiser Vertical Manager and District Sale Manager for Hologic, Inc.  Mr. Anderson is a 1997 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point with a B.S. in Systems Engineering.

Tyler Holcomb - Director of National Sales & Marketing

tyler-holcombMr. Holcomb began his career with Johnson and Johnson and has spent the last 10 years in women’s health, successfully introducing more than five new major platform technologies to the market. Mr. Holcomb was instrumental in accelerating growth for venture-funded Interlace Medical, Inc. (acquired by Hologic, Inc.), helping to build the initial market presence from scratch.  Tyler graduated with honors from the University of Iowa where he was Captain of the Men’s Swim Team, a 4-time Big Ten Championship Finalist and Olympic Trial Qualifier; awarded a full athletic scholarship.
